New Rail uses separate motors and inverters to drive the left and right cylindrical running wheels independently.
The AI unit calculates the target rotational speeds or their ratio. The active-running control unit commands the inverters, which control the motors to follow these targets.
This connects AI-generated control information to wheel rotation, running distance and whole-bogie steering.
The AI unit uses the virtual rail and operating data to determine the required rotational speeds of the left and right wheels.
On straight track, the targets produce matching running distances. On curves, they produce the different distances required by the inner and outer paths. The resulting distance difference steers the complete single-axle bogie.
AI Unit → Active-Running Control Unit → Left and Right Inverters → Motors → Cylindrical Running Wheels
The virtual rail provides the digital reference for these targets, while the motors and inverters turn them into actual wheel movement.
In the permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) embodiment, each inverter uses vector control.
The inverter measures the motor’s three-phase currents and rotor position, then transforms the measured currents into flux-producing and torque-producing components. These components are controlled to drive the motor according to its target rotational speed.
The higher-level running objective is the target rotational speed or left–right speed ratio. Torque-producing current is a lower-level drive variable used to achieve that objective.
Speed-priority control therefore does not mean that torque is uncontrolled. The inverter regulates motor current and torque to implement the required wheel speed.
Wheel-rotation or motor-position sensors provide the actual rotational speeds. The active-running control unit compares these measurements with the targets and adjusts the inverter commands.
The controller can also use torque-producing current, wheel load and running-distance information together to identify an imbalance between independently driven wheels. It can then make small corrections to the relevant wheel’s target speed.
The purpose is to make each wheel follow its required running distance—not to force every wheel to rotate at the same speed.
AI determines the motion targets; inverter vector control and sensor feedback implement them.

New Rail
